How to label a Samson S-Patch patchbay

How to label a Samson S-Patch patchbay

The Samson S-Patch is a popular patchbay model, but it has one big drawback: it's a pain to label. We've come up with an easy solution to make labelling this patchbay simple.

If you own a Samson S-Patch Plus, you've probably already realised that the typical method of labelling with paper strips just doesn't work very well. It's a problem with all audio equipment, but specifically with the S-Patch, because its layout doesn't leave a lot of room for labelling.

A Samson S-Patch can be difficult to label

With that in mind, we've developed a tool that lets you label your Samson S-Patch and receive a precision-cut, printed vinyl label to your specification. The label covers the entire face plate of the patchbay, allowing you to maximise the available space for labelling while ensuring perfect alignment with the switches and input/output holes.

There's room to add an upper and lower label for each channel and our configuration tool makes it easy to group channels and colour code your groups with whatever colour you like.

The configuration tool is easy to use, but this blog post will walk you through it and it has a video demo. Designing your label happens in the browser and we recommend using a desktop computer so you can see the patchbay layout in full as you create it.

When you order your patchbay labels, we print them on our professional printers and cut them precisely. Your label will come on a small backing sheet and peels off easily. Here's a behind-the-scenes video of a Neutrik NYS-SPP-L1 label being made:

One of the benefits of our labels is that we print them directly onto adhesive vinyl. This gives the labels a water and scratch-resistant finish, making them durable. The adhesive used is pressure-sensitive, so it's important that you apply the label to your patchbay carefully; too many reapplications will stretch the vinyl and your label won't fit as well. We have some tips on how to apply your label that might help.

Try the label configuration tool and let us know what you think.
